Under extreme temperatures nearing 40°C, patrol inspectors walk the gas pipeline network on foot, equipped with professional detection devices. At every stop, they bend down to carefully check key facilities such as valve wells and pressure regulators, leaving no room for potential hazards. In the blazing sun, metal equipment becomes too hot to touch, and work uniforms are soaked with sweat only to be dried moments later by the heat. Yet, they remain steadfast at their posts, determined to ensure the safety of every metre of pipeline. As one inspector remarked: “The hotter it gets, the more careful we must be. This is our responsibility—we cannot allow any risks to slip past our eyes.” Their simple words reflect a deep commitment to duty and to safety.
To prepare for emergencies that may arise during high temperatures, Ganghai Guangshui has enhanced its emergency response system. The company has deployed two mobile repair vehicles, multiple sets of backup equipment, and sufficient spare parts and materials. Since the start of summer, the company has handled 23 repair and emergency assignments. Each time a call comes in, repair teams arrive on-site within an average of 12 minutes. With a 100% timely repair rate, interruptions to gas supply are minimised, ensuring that residents’ daily needs are met without disruption.
Alongside its focus on supply security, the company also places great emphasis on the wellbeing of its employees. Outdoor work schedules are adjusted according to weather conditions to avoid peak heat at midday. In addition, a special “Cool Relief in Summer” campaign has been launched, providing frontline staff with heat-prevention supplies and training in emergency response skills. These measures ensure employees remain safe and healthy while fulfilling their duties.
“Gas safety is no small matter. The hotter the weather, the tighter we must hold the safety line,” said Zhou Wei, General Manager of Ganghai Guangshui. “We will continue to strengthen our dual system of human and technological safeguards, with a goal of ‘zero accidents and zero leaks’. By doing so, we will protect the city’s lifeline and enable residents to enjoy peace of mind and the true warmth of daily life, even in the peak of summer.”
